Three Pups!

They had their 2nd baths last night. Only Benny will be with me after this weekend. Its been so much fun! I sure do love these babies. <3 I love the photos I've been getting from new puppy owners and will upload them to the blog very soon! Thank you!

Yes, they still nurse a couple times a day! Piper was sad when the first 7 pups left for their new homes and has since been allowing these 3 to nurse more. She has been weaning them since they were about 2 1/2 weeks old (and when I first began to give them puppy food). This is her last litter of pups. I hope she isn't too sad when the two fluffs leave this weekend!
We are down to a couple of strategically placed pads. 99% of pooping is done outside now and about 75% of peeing is outside. What does happen inside is almost always on a pad.

 Sleepy babies!

These are two favorite sleeping spots (under my chair and in the 2nd crate around the corner from the main part of the puppy room.

The "key" is to put them outside when they wake up. They will hold it for a short time while they wait on me.

Ten Pups

My camera doesn't do justice to these adorable puppies. The camera is old and if the pups move at all, the photo is blurred. Many of the pictures were taken when the pups were half asleep because they were still! They are all very beautiful. Here they are! All 10 have wonderful homes to go to and will have a wonderful life with their new families. Thank you to everyone who has been following these updates over the last several weeks. Its been great fun! I love them so much! I look forward to seeing some pictures every once in awhile!!!!  <3

Tips for New Puppy Owners

MOUTHY PUPS My pups are mouthy. I do not allow them to chew on my hands and fingers (furniture, etc.) even though it is still cute and pain free (for now)!

One of my boys (1st litter) learned what to chew and not to chew quickly and by about 3 months of age the nips stopped. My other pup sticks to me like glue. He still 'lovingly' nips and tugs at my hands, arms, and clothes, but by about 5 months of age the worst had subsided.

I've linked a helpful article below on managing mouthiness, perfectly normal puppy behavior.
https://puppyintraining.com/the-ultimate-guide-how-to-stop-a-puppy-from-biting-and-nipping/

TRAINING These pups are independently intelligent and humble. With kind instruction and correction; abundant socialization; and early exposure to a variety of positive experiences, you will be rewarded with a gorgeous AND a loyal, loving companion/guardian.

HOUSE TRAINING They are all very close to being house trained. Make sure they are let out as soon as they wake up. You probably won't need puppy pads except maybe for the first couple of days as you learn each other's routine. They do not want to relieve themselves in a confined area, especially to poop (my puppy play place, your crate/room, etc.) or even the house (if you watch) and will hold it to go outside, but you have to watch for their cues. We and the pups do not really want them to use the puppy pads in the house, but the pups do seem to grasp that they are there for them, so if the young pup must be kept inside for more than an hour or two, I think your best bet would be to confine them (crate or small room) with a few pads. Placing a couple near the door where they should head to relieve themselves has been helpful too when they are out running free in the house.

FLEA CONTROL I love Tea Tree oil for flea control. I use it on all of my animals. While the pups are young, a water spray bottle with some tea tree oil and a flea comb should be sufficient. I just spray it on my hands and run it through their fur and then comb them. I also add Tea Tree oil to dog shampoos and even make my own dog shampoo with heavily diluted blue dawn dish soap, coconut oil, and tea tree oil. Judge the (Tea Tree oil) strength by the smell. You don't need much! And don't let them ingest it. Here is a link to the last place I purchased my Tea Tree oil for your convenience. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Tea-Tree-Oil-4oz-Aromatherapy-Relaxation-Body-Skin-Nail-Fungus-Acne-Treatment/123415396763?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649

I have mixed reviews about the Seresto flea collar. Yes it is expensive but it works very well IF your dog is like my mother dog who does not like to get dirty at all. My boys tend to get very muddy sometimes and need to be bathed too often for the Seresto to be a good deal for them. If you use this collar, baths should be kept to a maximum of once a month so that the medicine is not washed off. I've also found the spray bottle of Frontline as an alternative to the once monthly back drops has worked well and is more economical.

FEED  The pups have been eating Purina One for large breed puppies since they were 2 1/2 weeks old. Chewy.com delivery service is economical and very convenient!

I welcome and look forward to hearing about puppy experiences.

I'll add to this page as I think of more ideas that might be helpful.

Thank you!

Vaccination and Preventative Deworming

All of the puppies have had their 1st vaccination and a preventative dose of dewormer.

UPDATE: Big Blue/gray male has a home. Last pup: Bear is a cutie!

I'm listing these gorgeous big boys as available again. Blue is the biggest pup (by a lot) in the group. Bear isn't far behind.

Here they are!

Update: I just received a deposit for her! She is officially spoken for!  Males only - 2 remaining.

Only the adorable tan female pup is now still available! She is outgoing and funny, very lively and curious. She seems to be on the Alpha side of the spectrum.

Here she is.

Thank you to those who have purchased their puppies and have been watching them grow with me. It is so much fun! Would you mind leaving a short review about your puppy purchase in the comment section? It would mean a lot to me. Thanks again!

NEW VIDEOS COMING VERY SOON!

11/19/2018 - I have had a couple more puppies go to the door to be let out to relieve themselves since beginning real house training. I also had 7 pups sleep in the regular living areas of the house last night and awoke to a lot of puppies waiting to go outside before relieving themselves! They are doing so great!!!!!

One pup went to the door to be let out tonight to be relieved and then came right back inside.

The puppies' world is quickly expanding!

These babies are officially house training. It is too cold for long stays and playtime outside but that works far better with potty training. As they wake and start to whine to come out of their pen, I put them in the grass just long enough to relieve themselves (the idea behind crate training). Then they come in to play in the living room. Only a few pee accidents so far and a couple of the pups will still go to the puppy area to pee on the pad. Please understand- they are still babies and will need consistent training at their new homes, so expect accidents and be pleasantly surprised if accidents are few!
New pictures and videos coming very soon.

2 1/2 more weeks to go until I say goodbye and they are in their forever homes.  The fluffy male with the black face mask (video below) has been spoken for.

These babies are still available. The female will probably look just like my beautiful Spotty boy.

4 weeks old today.

November 9, 2018
Piper has been leading them into the crate.
I took out a section of puppy pads. Several of them looked around for the paper to use.
I've been adding raw egg to their food to boost immunity.

Bath day! All of the pups had their first bath today.
I use a very mild/diluted solution of blue dawn dish soap (to cleanse), coconut oil (to moisturize), tea tree oil (for parasite repellent and skin care)

Nov 5, 2018 (3 weeks old yesterday)
The new set up.
We are crate training. I leave the door open for them all the time.
There are puppy training pads under the newspaper. Its much more economical/efficient this way. I'd be going through way too many puppy pads every couple hours if not for the newspaper!

I wasn't planning on recording the babies using the bathroom but I am so happy to say that they are paper trained (well definitely getting the idea). I was so proud tonight seeing about 6 or 7 pups walk right over to the newspaper area to do their business after they had some milk from mama. They turn 3 weeks old today (Nov 4, 2018). Smart puppies!

These two cuties below are waiting on someone to give them their furrever home. Black female. Tan male. Update: the black and white female has a home.

Nov 1, 2018. I think they liked it! They are almost 3 weeks old now. Softened Purina One for large breed puppies.

10/29/2018 -

10/28/2018 - 2 weeks old

The sire and my boys from the 1st litter playing. Apollo is very fun loving with the pups but he he is still the boss and the boys know it! Understanding the order of the pack is very important in training! Apollo is 100% giant breed (50% Great Pyrenees; 50% Akbash) although he was the smallest of his litter at 10 weeks of age (intentional choice!)  He has a noble and dignified manner about him, great with kids, and very gentle with those in "his care" (pups, cats, toddlers, etc.) Although it doesn't look like it in this video, Apollo is still about 4 inches taller than the pups and will continue to fill out this year, probably eventually topping out around 110 (yes, a 110 pound "small" pup). The pups are much stockier and were around 80 pounds at 7 months. Giant breeds will continue to grow throughout their 2nd and sometimes even 3rd year.

7 pups available! 3 females and 4 males.
